  Pros and Cons
  Pros Cons

Packs down well
Comfortable

None for the price

Verdict
If like me, you prefer the extra leg room of ‘square’ bottom bags then check this bag out. It has a good ‘Comfort Rating’ down to -2 (which ensures you’re warm enough through spring and autumn), packs down well (with no issues getting it back in the bag) and feels very comfortable against the skin. It’s an excellent sleeping bag for the price.

The Cost
Around £16 – Bargain!!!!

Vango Campbed / Sun lounger

Campbeds

Vango Campbed/Sun lounger
Foldable, compact size for storage and ease of carrying to maximise comfort and enjoyment during camping trips and weekends away.

Features
Sturdy 28mm alloy frame, 450D Polyester ripstop fabric with padded foam, adjustable to 3 positions, dimensions: 180 x 60 x 30cm

  Pros and Cons
  Pros Cons

Compact
Lightweight

On the hard side

Verdict
Good quality and robust product which unfolds in seconds. Particularly like the adjustability to 3 positions. Although it has a foam padding I thought it a little hard to sleep on and found I had to supplement the top with a cheap self inflating mat. It’s not the cheapest campbed on the market but I think you’ll get your monies worth as it’s built to last. it also doubles up as a funky looking sun lounger on those lazy summer days outside the tent.

The Cost
Around the £40 mark

Royal Campbed

Royal Campbeds

Royal Campbed
This three-leg camp bed with raised pillow area folds in to its own bag for easy storage and transporting

Features
Fabric: Polyester, strong steel frame. Length: 180cm  Width: 61cm

Pros and Cons
Pros: Cons:

Compact
Easy to carry
Low Cost

Can be fiddly to assemble

 Verdict
These beds are a bit like Marmite, you either love ‘em or hate ‘em.  I’ve tried the 4 legged (different brand) and 3 legged versions but prefer the Royal 3 legged versions as I found the 4 legged version almost impossible to get both ends of the poles into the fabric sleeve ends which means one end of the bed ends up a bit on the saggy side. The 3 legged version (or at least the Royal version) doesn’t seem to suffer from this and is easier to assemble and if I’m honest seems a bit better quality.

As with all of these types of beds they can tip if attempting to sit on the edge but I find them quite comfortable (especially if supplemented with a cheap self inflating mat).

The Cost
Around the £10 mark, a bargain price

Highlander Campbed

Campbeds from Highlander

Highlander Campbed
This folding camp is easily assembled, strong and comfortable making it an excellent accessory ideal for camping and outdoor use. Comes complete with a hard wearing carry bag with strap for easy portability whilst the bed features a steel frame construction which allows it to have an impressive maximum load of eighty five kilos and unfolds in seconds.

Features
Dimensions: 195 x 64 x 54cm, Tube: 1.9 x 1.3mm,  Weight: 7kg, Cloth: Tough 600D Polyester / PVC fabric. Durable ‘Nylon 66’ feet, folds into small pack.

Pros and Cons
Pros: Cons:

Compact
Easy to carry
Low Cost

Weight

Verdict
There’s quite a few similar versions of these beds on the market, even Tesco and Argos sell unbranded versions. They’re a bit on the heavy side to cart around but they’re as ‘tough as old boots’ and won’t tip over when you’re putting your socks on. They can feel a bit on the hard side and once again I prefer to supplement them with a cheap self inflatable mat. At 195cm in length it’ll stop most peoples feet hanging over the bottom edge and the slightly raised head should stop your pillow falling of the top end in the middle of the night.

The Cost
Between the £15 - £30 (look for the sales/discounts)

Easy Camp "Nice" Camping Chair

Outdoor chairs

Easy Camp ‘Nice’ Camping Chair
A new lightweight folding chair in a two-tone colour which opens and fold in seconds.

Features
Five position chair, fast opening and closing, no assembly required. Fabric is a 2 tone textilene. Light weight and easy to carry, for indoor and outdoor use. Open size: W 57 x D 60 x H 100 cm, weight: 3.7 kg

Pros and Cons
Pros: Cons:

Compact
Lightweight
Multi positional

Benefits from a thin garden seat cushion.

Verdict
Good quality and robust product which unfolds/folds in seconds. Particularly like the adjustability to 5 positions which really makes this a multi-functional product to suit most peoples sitting preferences (you can almost lay back to enjoy the summer sun).  There is also a slightly larger model available (the Monaco) so with the 5 position functionality and available in 2 sizes then there should be one to suit your needs.

The Cost
Around the £20 mark

Coleman Double Comfort Air Bed

Air Beds for Camping

These unique Double chamber airbeds features Coleman’s air tight system and double lock valves to ensure the airbed stays inflated for longer and is one of the most comfortable on the market currently.

Features

The double chambers allow the airbed to be inflated to different pressures on each side allowing a greater level of comfort. The double lock valves allow for quick inflation whilst using one of the modern high volume air pumps. Dimensions : 188 x 134 x 22cm

Pros and Cons Cons:
Pros
Very Comfortable
Small pack size
Quick Inflation

Verdict
After trying many a airbed this has to be one of the most comfortable on the market currently. The ability to have different pressures on each side allows you to have the beds firmness set to your own likings, but also reduces the motion felt when the other person turns. We have found the bed will require topping up every four or five days which we find acceptable. The bed is supplied with a repair kit and its own carrying bag for easy of transport and weighs in at 3.7kg.

Cost

Around the £25 mark and available from most good camping stores.
