Outwell Oklahoma Day Tent

The Tent
The Outwell Oklahoma is from Outwell’s Deluxe range of
tents and is the largest of there current range of day
tents. This tent utilizes Outwell’s Power Stability
System to ensure the tent is kept secure and
incorporates a screen house door on each side. This tent
is at home as a kitchen tent on a campsite or can be
used as a gazebo when at home and not camping. Being
easy to erect and a reasonable pack size this is a
cheaper option to increasing your camping accommodation
without the need to purchase another tent. The tent is
made to Outwell’s very high specification (see below)
and is designed to ensure comfort and a great additional
space for your camping experience.

Erection / Pitching
There are two different
poles for the tent, the side legs and the roof poles
which makes the pitching relative easy. Once the tent is
out of the bag and in position insert the two roof poles
into position. Insert two legs into any one of the
sides, ensuring that the material loops at the top are
slide over the leg poles. We then after experience have
found if you then insert the pin of the ring & pin
system into the bottom of these legs and loosely peg,
this helps with the final erection. Insert the final two
legs and insert pins from the ring & pin system. Adjust
the tent poles to be in alignment and then finally peg
out the tent and the four pre attached guy ropes. The
detachable groundsheet is then located inside the tent
and secured at each corner by a tent peg.

Pros and Cons
|
|
|
Pros |
Cons: |
|
Large kitchen area
Spacious
Well ventilated
Stable |
Additional kit to transport |
The Cost
Around £120 for the 2007 model but the cost may increase
slightly for the 2008 season.
The
Verdict
This is a great addition to your camping kit if
additional storage / kitchen area is needed but you do
not wish to replace your tent. We use ours as kitchen
and it provides ample space for table, chairs and the
kitchen unit and keeps as well as for safety and
removing your cooking from your main tent. The tent
warms up nicely in the evening with the cooker on but
can easily be ventilated by opening of the doors, indeed
opening all four doors transforms it into a Gazebo type
structure. Some sites we seen do charge a small fee for
the additional tent but we on trips of more than a few
days would now not be without it.
