Outwell Trout Lake
(Sleeping Capacity
4 persons)

The Tent
The Outwell Trout Lake is from Outwell’s Classic
range of tents and is a 4 Berth Tunnel tent which
utilizes alloy to ensure the tent is kept secure and
rigid throughout most conditions. The tent is
supplied with a two plus two inner tent, providing
sleeping accommodation for four people or a very
comfortable two person tent. The bedroom divider can
also be unzipped providing a single bedroom if
required. The internal dimension of the tent ensures
a comfortable living area for a couple or small
family. The tent is made to a very high
specification (see below) and is designed to ensure
comfort and durability.

Erection / Pitching
One of the key advantages of this tent is that it is
pitched flysheet first or all in one, ensuring that
the inner tent will stay nice and dry if pitching in
wet weather conditions. The alloy poles are all
colour coded making it very easy to identify which
poles go in which sleeves. Once the tent is out of
the bag we find it easier to loosely peg the four
corners first in the position you wish to erect the
tent. Snap the alloy poles together and locate in
the same coloured sleeve; we have found it best to
lay the legs down with the legs pointing forward.
Once all the poles are in place, starting at the
back of the tent, pull the poles into the upright
position and secure to the ring and pin system,
complete for the remaining two poles. Once the tent
is in the upright position, open the front door and
place the ZIG in place and zip into place along.
Once this is complete, zip the door closed and
proceed to peg out the tent and ZIG. Finally enter
the tent again and locate the inner tent into
position using the sewn in supports.

The Verdict
The Trout Lake has been around now for a season or
two and is a well established tent. We purchased
ours for the 2008 season for a weekend tent, but
have been so impressed with it, we have now put our
Montana 6 and Minnesota 4 out for retirement. Indeed
we took our Montana 6 out recently and we regretted
we did not have the Trout instead. The tent is
simplicity itself in pitching and can be fully
erected within 40 minutes. The difference in the
polycotton flysheet is very noticeable, cooler in
the warmer weather, warmer in the cooler weather and
a lot quieter in windy conditions. The tent affords
good living space and with the addition of the
extension enough space to live and cook in whatever
the conditions. This tent is a fantastic tent and is
by far the best tent we have in our collection. If
your are after a good quality, quick to erect tent
and are looking for a polycotton tent, this must be
one for you to add to your shortlist.
