Sprayway Canyon 4+2
(Sleeping
Capacity 6 persons)

The Tent
Sprayway have extended their
quality tent range for 2009 with the new
traditional style Vis-a-Vis style Canyon
tent. The tent is available in 2 sizes
(Canyon 4+2 & Canyon 8+2) with optional
accessories of carpet, windshield, footprint
groundsheet and ‘Front Extension’ to really
complement this great tent. The Canyon
8+2 is also available in Polycotton.
Vis-à-vis style tents have not been made
obsolete by the rise of the Tunnel tents and
Sprayways new Canyon range will ensure the
vis-à-vis style continue to thrive. This
tent style provides good separation of the
two main bedroom areas and are very popular
for that reason with families. In the usual
Sprayway style the Canyon pitches flysheet
first with the whole of the fully sealed
inner tent (living area and bedrooms)
attaching to the flysheet. With only 3 poles
(of the same size and colour) this tent is a
breeze to put up. Each bedroom sleeps a
comfortable 2 people + a storage / wardrobe
room or unzip the bedroom divider to create
one large bedroom for 3 people with generous
storage pockets in each bedroom. I admire
Sprayway for actually matching their
advertised sleeping berths with their
bedroom sizes (other manufacturers please
take note).
Although the main living area is of standing
height for an adult the same can’t be said
for the bedrooms as the sloping roof will
only allow standing height when the bedroom
door is open, but I could live with that.
The living area isn’t overly large but
doesn’t feel claustrophobic. I like the use
of 2 doors but these would benefit from a
small rain cowl on the flysheet to avoid
rain water dripping off when opening the door.
The instructions state that a wardrobe
hanging rail is to be setup but one wasn't
supplied with our tent nor could we see
where one could be fitted, maybe it was a
typo with our instructions.

Verdict
I’m not a big fan of vis-à-vis style tents but
there’s something about this one I like. It would
make a great weekender, it’s well made and with the
pole design should be very sturdy. As with most of
the Sprayway range it's well ventilated. Nice
to see Sprayway’s low level vents have been
redesigned to also include a zip closure. I have to
give credit where credit is due as Sprayway have
only been in the tent market for two seasons but
are already forging ahead with their innovative ideas and designs. I
look forward to what Sprayway have up their sleeve
for next year.
