Sprayway Ravine 5
(Sleeping
Capacity 5 persons)

The Tent
Sprayway have extended their quality tent
range for 2009, adding to the Sprayway
Valley range the Sprayway Canyon and
Sprayway Ravine ranges. Here we review the
new eye catching Ravine tent. This tunnel
type tent is available in 2 sizes (Ravine 5
& Ravine 6+2) with optional accessories of
carpet, windshield and footprint groundsheet
to really complement a nice looking tent.
You would be forgiven at first
glance of the Sprayway Ravine 5 for mistaking this
tent for one of the Sprayway Valley range but take a
closer look inside for proof your eyes are deceiving
you. Although the general pitching method of the
Valley and the Ravine models are the same i.e. pitch
flysheet and then attach fully sealed inner tent to
flysheet it’s the latter where the big difference
resides. Sprayway have totally redesigned the
integral inner tent, in fact, the inner tent only
covers half the tent which contains the rear
bedrooms and a total privacy living / changing area
(no exterior doors or windows, nice idea) here.
The second half of the tent
contains, as Sprayway advertise, “a large ‘wet’
living area” (Not sure Sprayways description does it
justice as I don’t believe anyone would want a ‘wet’
living area)
it’s actually a large
living area ( in addition to the privacy area
previously mentioned) with a removable (non-riser)
groundsheet and does benefit from excellent peggable
storm flaps to reduce drafts and water from this
area. It has large panoramic windows (4 to the
side and a large window on the front door) it’s
great place to sit and watch the world go by. The
large U shaped front door is fully removable to
really open up the interior but I found this large
door slightly disappointing as it can't be folded or
rolled back and 'toggled' in partially open
positions.
The interior window covers nicely
drop down into their own pockets, glad to see
Sprayway continued this design from their Valley
range. The integral sun canopy is a nice touch and
will provide shade (and a bit of shelter) if
required. I especially like the large hook & eye
design onto the front poles. There's standing room
completely throughout the tent. Each bedroom is a
comfortable 2 berth, separating these bedrooms is
the integral walk-in wardrobe with hanging rail or
this could be utilized to sleep a extra very skinny
person. This area isn't large enough for a campbed
but may fit a self inflating mat.
As with most of the Sprayway
range it's well ventilated which should help prevent
condensation also a great asset in warmer climates.
Nice to see Sprayway’s low level vents have been
redesigned to also include a zip closure to prevent
draught in high wind conditions.

Pros:

Spacious
Integral Sun Canopy
Easy to pitch (30mins)
Good heavy duty oversized
storage bag
Lots of pegging points
Looks good
Storm flaps on front of

Cons:
Whilst the large front

Verdict
Verdict: Well made, stable and
will be popular with families on sites in the summer
months. I have to give credit where
credit is due as Sprayway have only been in the tent
market for 2 seasons but already are forging ahead
in their second season with their innovative ideas and
designs. I look forward to what Sprayway
have up their sleeve for next year.
